Science Intensive ✏️ ✏️

Insulation-

For Science Intensive we've learnt about Insulation with Mrs Tofa in our class (Room 7). Insulation is when you keep your house when by insulating your walls, windows, roofs and the floors. When it's Winter an your turn on your heater the heat will still stay in even though the heaters off, but in Summer the heat will go out because your windows and doors are open so you can let the breeze come in so you can feel cold. So after that the boys built a building using Lego's and the girls just made a building using cardboard's and papers .I've really enjoyed been teach about Insulation with Mrs Tofa and building our house with Lego's.

3 States Of Matters-

The first lesson we did was with Miss Stone. We learnt about the 3 different matters which is liquid, solid and gas.

• What is a particle liquid? Liquid is a matter that can move around but not far.
• What is a particle of solid? Solid is a matter that went it moves it stays the same shape.
• What is a particle of gas? Gas is a matter that can moves far from each other

Did you also know that our body systems are the state of matter too, our bloods are liquid, our bones is solid and our breath are gas.

Earthquake tower challenge (With straws and more materials)

The following materials is dangerous so be safe with it:

• 1 cardboard base (it’s should be 25 cm by 25cm)
• 30 straws
• 100 paper clips (one box)
• 20 pins
• 2 meters of string

How to build a tower?

• The building you are going to make should fit on the base. Attach your building to the base by using paper clips, pins or string.
• Your building must be at least 36 cm tall.
• Your building has 2 stories that are each at least 18 cm tall (it’s the same height as a straw).
• You should plan your tower by drawing it on a big paper with a ruler and measure the height of the tower and the stories before building your building.
• To survive an earthquake test, the building must not collapse for 10 seconds after the earthquakes begins. The weight have to stay on the building so it can show your tower is secured properly. You have 1 minute to build another tower before starting your next earthquakes test.

Points:

5 points: You will get 5 points only if your building can survive 5 second of the earthquakes.

10 points; To earn 10 points your building should survive the earthquake for 10 seconds.

If your building can survive more than 10 seconds you will deserve the exact same points as how long your building can survive and earthquake.

Science intensive with Mrs Sigamoney (Earthquake)

Today for Science intensive us Room 7 was with Mrs Sigamoney, she taught us about Earthquake, firstly she told us to go on YouTube to watch a video of what causes Earthquake, after watching that video we had to go on the google slide Mrs Sigamoney shared to us and we had to answer some question all based on Earthquake. When we've finish answering those questions we had to go out for morning tea but Mrs Sigamoney said to us "We are going to build a straw tower challenge which is about Earthquake". Science Intensive (Making Chocolate)

Today we have been learning about the three states of matter (solid, liquid and gas) and the changes of matter. In this experiment we first got a paper foil so we can put the chocolate sauce onto it, the chocolate sauce was in a piping bag which we would squeeze until we make a shape with the chocolate sauce. This meant that the chocolate changed from a liquid to a solid. Then we left the chocolate to cool down into a hard chocolate. This meant that the chocolate changed from a liquid to a solid. After that we ate it and it tasted very nice and it just tasted like a normal chocolate.
