Day 2- Learning the Basics

Now that you have chosen your country, it is time to decide where, within your country, you would like to visit. Many tourists will choose to visit the capital city of a country. It is often quite large and full of interesting things to see and do.

Activity 1

Before you go overseas it will be important that you learn a bit about the capital city of your country. Hop online and find out about the capital city of your country. Use this information to complete the five sentences below:

Capital of city- Tokyo

The populations of city- 13.15 million

In January, the weather in the capital city is usually- The weather on January in Tokyo is Cold and the temperature is 5 celsius

The capital city is located in the (northern, southern, middle) part of the country- Tokyo is located in the Southeastern

The languages most commonly spoken in the capital city are- Korean and Japanese

Activity 2

One of the most popular activities in Madrid, the capital city of Spain, is called ‘Bullfighting.’ It has been a part of Spanish culture for centuries. In bullfighting people called ‘toreros and ‘matadors’ fight with a live bull. The toreros do most of the fighting and, ultimately, capture the bull and tie it up. Once it has been caught, the matador joins the fight and kills the bull. Although most toreros and matadors are men, there are some women who also compete in the sport.

Not everyone supports bullfighting in Spain. In fact, about 30% of the population want it to be banned (stopped) completely. What do you think? On your blog tell us whether or not you think that bullfighting should be banned in Spain. Please provide, at least, two reasons to support your decision.

My opinions about bullfighting it need to stop because it causes too much injuries to the people that is in the arena making eye to eye to the bull. My other reason is bulls are too rough, their horns can stab people right to their death. It really cool seeing people on tv getting bullied by bulls. But want this bullfight to stop.

Bonus activity

Wellington is the capital city of New Zealand. Have you been to Wellington? If so, please tell us about two things that you did when you were in Wellington.

If I visit Wellington I would prefer 2 things one is going shopping on Cuba Street and going out for dinner with family and friends. And that is my decision when I go to Wellington

It was scurrying home after interviewing my local theatre's artistic director. I couldn’t wait to tell the Thea Sisters about their program. Oh pardon me I almost forgot to introduce myself. My name is Thea Stilton and I am a special correspondent for the rodent’s gazette, Mouse island’s biggest newspaper. Nicky, Pamela, Pauline, and Violet Known as the Thea sisters they were my star students. I entered my door there was a package with a cd and a note. The note had something for Me, “Dear Thea listen to the track called “Flamenco”, And you’ll feel as if you’re shaking your tail with us on the streets of Seville, Spain. SML- Summer Learning Journey Day 1

Japan

Day 1- Choose a destination

The world is a very big and very cool place. There are currently 196 countries and approximately 7.1 billion people living on earth. For this project we are going to focus on just 10 countries across 6 continents – Canada (North America), Mexico (Central America), Chile (South America), England (Europe), Germany (Europe), South Africa (Africa), United Arab Emirates (Middle East), Japan (Asia), Malaysia (South-East Asia), and Australia (Australasia).

Please click on the ‘World Map’ tab on the main menu. It will bring you to a big map. One by one click on the names of the countries and ready the ‘Quick Facts’ about each place.

Activity 1

After you have read the quick facts about each place you must choose ONE country that you would like to ‘visit.’ On your blog post the name of the country and tell us why you have chosen to visit it. Please give, at least, two reasons for choosing the country.

The Reason why I choose Japan because it has lots of hidden story behind Japan and that I why I prefer Japan. Also because I want to learn really hard and I want to see lots of information of Japan.

Activity 2

On Google, research the country that you have chosen to visit and write, in your own words, three interesting facts about that country. They must be facts that weren’t already provided on the World Map.

Japan facts

Location- Japan is a country in the pacific ocean made up of 6852 Islands. The four largest islands are called: Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku. Japan is located to the east of Russia, China and Korea.

Population size- 127.1 million People

Main Cities- Tokyo (Capital) Kyoto, Hiroshima, Sendai, Osaka

Climate- The Climate in Japan is mostly temperature however, it does vary from north to south with colder temperature (Including snow) found in the north.

Public holidays- There are 16 national holidays in Japan. The National Foundation (birthday) Day is celebrated on 11 February.

Languages- There is one official languages in Japan - Japanese

Ethnica mix-Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Filipino, Brazilian, Vietnamese, Other

Money (Currency)- Yen (JPY)

National sports- Sumo wrestling, baseball, football (soccer), judo, karate, kendo

Bonus Activity

Write a letter to a friend or family member to tell them that you are going to visit your country of choice. In your letter, please tell them where you are going, why you have decided to go to the particular country and how long you will be away. Feel free to invite them to join you, if you’d like!

Mum and Grandma I would love to say I am going to Japan Because it is a very nice relaxing country, Japan have lots of people over there which I would love to visit and talk to them to experience more. I am going to Japan for 1 month and a half so I can be comfortable.

Kiwi can 24-11-2016

Yesterday afternoon Room 8 went down to Kiwi can. We had a little chat about our new topic “Environment”. Our theme is called Respect, We went and done our energiser. Our energiser was called Krickby and Krickby was created by Telesia.

We had loads of cones, the cones was form in a circle, The was a bit similar than Softball. After our activity we went and added our points, Our point was 25 and that was the best thing in yesterday Kiwi can lesson.

Healthy Tiria Kai

Today, we had a healthy shared lunch for the whole School at Glenbrae School. Room 8 prepared a Rainbow 5 plus Salad that had Lettuce, Carrots, Capsicum, Oranges, Apples, Red Onions and Tomatoes in it.

The other classes prepared Chicken Roti wraps, Fruit kebab, Sandwich, Rainbow Salad, Pumpkin soup, Corn fritter,Vege sticks and Hummus. Some of our parents were also there. After the shared lunch, some of us helped with cleaning up the hall.

The best food I enjoyed was Chicken Roti wrap, Tuna Sandwich and the pumpkin soup.

On Friday went out to “Subway” with my cousins, We just went to subway to buy Cookies, we went straight to Pak ‘n’ Save to buy some dinner to eat. When got home we ate our dinner. For dinner we had Chicken with Rice and it was so nice. We ate our goodies that we got from my mum.

What a nice day with family!!

Yesterday us as a family we all went out to just buy my lunch and do other things, we went out to a lot of stores to buy my lunch,after that we went to Otara so my nana can buy her something. We went to Wendy’s after because we felt like eating, so we go some Wendy’s food , We pulled over somewhere to eat out food before we went back (home) to end our day.

Nice Day

On Thursday it was a rainy day but at least we done something today, my cousin, mum brother and I we all went to Bouncy Beyond, We met up with my friend Fasi. I went on the bouncy castle and it was so awesome, I was bouncing around in different bouncy castle and it was really cool,

I was playing with my new friends that I met there to. We were playing a game called man-hunt and that turned out pretty well. After the whole Bouncy Beyond we all went to the Ice-cream shop. I had a big ice-cream and it was so so delicious, My mum allowed me to have a big ice cream.

After the ice-cream shops we went back home but my mum order some pizza for us to have a munch on and it was cool today spending time with friends and family was a good idea to have fun.

So Tired!!

Today it was a shocking surprise because we didn’t know that my Uncle Vikah is coming with his kids, when they came over my uncle and I went went to “ My Bakery to buy some hot chips for my cousins and little brother, when we got out Hot chips we came back home we just chilled in the sitting waiting for my aunty and Cousins. My uncle and I we went in my room to play some video games while we are waiting.

After waiting my aunty came over she went with my mum and cousin to get some lunch. For lunch we had “ KFC “, We had some lollies before my cousins, Uncle and aunty left. We all ended up outside playing with my cousins we had a lot of fun.

TODAY IS THE DAY!!!

This evening my mum, nana, brother and I we all had a little time at dunkin’ donuts, WE went there and we felt like some sweet, So I asked my mum “ If I can have hot chocolate”, and she said “off cause”. After ordering our sweets  we ate it and it was amazing.

After dunkin’ donut we went to get our washing, after getting our washing I wanted a little snack so I ask my mum “ Hey can I have some hot chips”, and she said “ yes”. So I treated myself with hot chips and i shared it with my brother.

Dinner Time!!!

Today we had dinner, for dinner we had Taco stuff, My mum filled it up with chicken, cheese and lettuce. The next one was filled with the same thing but with corn beef. After that we were full so we ended our dinner right there, it was so very delicious

Movie night!!!!

On Wednesday night, my mum wanted us to have a Movie night, my cousin Amira came over in the middle of night to join us, we had our snacks and just enjoyed the Movie we watch Farm Yard it was a very funny kids movie, after the Movie we ended up on our devices, then we went to sleep.

What a fresh day!!!...

Today we went out with my friend Fasi and Amira ,We all went to the barber shop so we can have our haircut nice and neat, after getting our haircut we went to pak’n’save to buy some goodies for us, we all went to the bakery to buy us some hot chips and pies, we went back home to eat our treats we got. Now just relaxing because the weather isn't looking good for us to go outside and play .

What a exhausting day!!!!!

Today I went out with my friend Fasi. We all went to the Glendowie park. I took my hoverboard to have fun, we were playing at the skatepark, playground and the basketball courts, my cousin Amira, my mum, Fasi mum, Marcus and Tini were just playing on the playground while me and fasi playing basketball. After having a fun session at the park we went of to the Scout hall. We just had a little feed over there and me and Fasi was just playing with couple of our friends from School. After having that little feed we went back home. I was so tired that I wanted to play outside so I mainly did. I just practice my Basketball skills before I went back inside the house. It was a very exciting Day.

My brothers disco night at Kindy

On Thursday last week we went to my Brothers Kindy for his Disco night . I was outside playing and having fun , while my mum and little kids were inside Dancing !! We picked up my cousin Amira to join us so she can have fun because she loves Dancing, Amira won a prize for best Dancing moves she was excited that her name got called, it was good to see Fasi and his little family there too. Tini and Marcus looked so cute in there costumes , everyone had fun it was a good night

Birthday Lunch for my Mum

On Saturday my Family and I we all went to a restaurant called Wellington’s Restaurant. The Restaurant is in Mt wellington at Waipuna. We met up with our Family over their. There was a lot of food and it was very yummy , we could eat as much as we want. My Uncle Tino planned our lunch for My Mum because she turned 30 years old, We blowed out the cake it was so fabulous. The view outside the restaurant was nice but it wasn't good to go outside because it was raining the restaurant was based at the Panmure Basin. We talked and I was just playing with all my cousins,Uncles and aunties. My mum was so happy to have everyone there with her to celebrate her day.

Birthday surprise to my?

On Monday we went out to my Aunt's work too surprise her on her Birthday.  We surprised her with her cake, Flower, balloon and most of all her birthday present. My little Brother went in first while we were hiding , my Aunty saw Marcus and that's when we walked in to sing her a Birthday song , she was so Happy had a Big smile on her face , i know that she enjoyed every moment while we were there .

This Afternoon

This whole afternoon it was a pretty quiet and fun because it was raining and it cleared up for a bit Luckily I had a good day because my cousin Amira came over with Lunch and she stayed back with us , When it wasn't raining we went and played outside before it started to rain, We came inside and I was just doing my homework, after my homework my mum said “Time to have dinner”, we all had dinner. While we were having dinner we were watching Regular show. After having dinner we had Ice Creams it was very delicious and we are now planning to watch movie tonight.

Tuesday Afternoon

What i did on Tuesday 27/09/16

On Wednesday we went out to “Chipmunks”. We met up with my Mums Friend and her kids that we haven't seen in a long time, I was playing with my friend Jerome he still the same I'm happy that he still remembers me, We were playing at the Basketball area which is our favourite spot, we were all having fun and ended up eating snacks and having a lot of drinks it was so very hot. After Chipmunks we all ended at my house to have late Lunch , my mum cooked so fast because all the kids were Hungry and tired, it was fun having my Friend over playing on my Ps3 and just doing fun things. I had a good day with everyone , Jeromes mum said they will be back over next week so i cant wait to see them all

Five things you don’t know about me:

1. I love to sing in the shower that why “ My Mum always tell me to hurry up,
2. I am so shy when I speak to 1000 people on Stage so (CREEPY).
3. I hate (Hurting myself) When I am in danger.
4. I sometime get upset when I have to do Chores.
5. Last but not least I Sometime scream like a girl, So embarrassing.

Financial Literacy

Today we had Mr Mike Morgan and Mr Matthew Hawley from Price Water house and Cooper an accounting firm, talk to us about Financial Literacy. We learned about ways to earn and save money. I felt excited and pump because I knew some facts about ways to earn and save money.

R.I.P Mr Dudley

The late Mr Dudley a volunteer from St. Andrews rest home, worked at our school for a few years as a helper in our breakfast club which operates every morning on school days. He worked on Thursdays helping prepare and serve breakfast to the student of Glenbrae school who hadn’t had breakfast.

His beautiful smile and kinds word always made our day and we will miss him a lot.

May the Lord almighty rest his soul in peace.

This week we have been learning about fair play and how to behave on the playground. Some of the things we have been learning about are:

• Fair play is following the rules of the game
• Respecting others
• Working together as a team
• Sharing and taking turns
• Communicating and solving problems in a peaceful way
• Making sure no ones is left out
• Being honest
• Giving of your best while playing
• Being a good winner and a good loser
